As someone who doesnt play clairen and hates playing against her, I think overall shes a pretty good and well balanced character still, she just moves too fast. I wouldnt want to see her get nerfed into the grave in this next patch. I think the main issue I have with her is her throw mix and ability to not only completely wall you out with normals, not only combo you crazy style, but also guess 2 or 3 times in most situations and still come out advantagiously. I think if her overall ability to move was toned down she would have to think more and her tipper stun mechanic would be more balanced as she would actually need it now to combo you and still potentially drop it if she doesnt space or guess correctly. Also her throw mix would require tighter execution, and work for a tighter percent range while not removing it completely.
I hate Clairen but she’s still super hype to watch when she does cool stuff. Making her slower would just make her more thoughtful/technical while preserving sauce imo.
It’s interesting that Clairen is one of only a few character whose run speed was changed significantly relative to RoA1 - and I believe the only one to be buffed, with the exception of Wrastor without slipstream.
I’ve been practicing Clairen a lot lately and it really reminds me of playing Ranno for the first few months of the game; the feeling that I can combo into whatever I want because I can be wherever I want between her gimmick and run speed. Together, these do a lot to mitigate what were once her weaknesses.
