I’ve been playing this game since the weekend betas, and over time I’ve seen a lot of highs in server performance where I felt like it’s been the best online experience I’ve had on a plat fighter. But, for about a full year now, especially with the RCS season for Rivals 2 having a high volume of online brackets, I’ve noticed a trend that concerns me for the growing player base of Rivals 2. I often feel from my personal experience when I’ve entered these large RCS online brackets. I have had really poor experiences with rollbacks and general game performance issues; typically after the bracket is over or in the late stretch of the finals, server performance, even for servers that are furthest from me, functions so much better. A lot of this is really based on feel and anecdotal experiences, but this sentiment is generally shared among my friends and other top competitors.
I wanted to share this in case this hasn’t been reported before, as this is a huge issue in my mind if my concern for server performance during peak player count is based on an actual issue with either the server provider or the level of service Aether Studios pays for PlayFabs servers. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that the future of this game, especially as more eyes and people get involved in this, needs stable servers for when the players do come, and they are coming. The need for servers that do not give a bad experience is paramount.
