I sure it must have happened to a lot of people when you input your sideb or your upb and you are sure you are inputing the proper direction.
Well if input you want to input a upb and you first hold your stick in the left instead of up but you correct immedialty and put your stick in the upward direction.
Your character will not side b out of hitstun but side b instead.
You can see example in the video.
Please fix this and allow direction correction it feels awful

What do you think should happen if you try to angle a move like that? For example i buffer UpSpecial for Absa in hitstun and immediately hold left to angle it to the ledge (which is the most intuitive thing to do if you don’t want to miss a direction)? This will completely ruin people’s ability to buffer angled moves without manually timing the angle.
Also what makes you think this is a bug? Is there any other case of buffer working like you want in the game?

This is on purpose and how it works in the Smash series as well. It actually took us some time to get it working like this in the Rivals 2 engine since I never set it up like this in Rivals 1.
The reason this is intended is that the smash games after Melee and the Rivals games have a buffer. So we want to take the direction input when you first press the button in case you hit the button a little early and were trying to aim a special move or drift immediately after performing it. If you don’t do it this way, then you get the issues we had before where people trying to aim something like a Galvan side special angled up would get an up special instead if they were buffering the input out of another action. This is a lot more damaging than the inverse you have shown here where you were hitting the wrong input when pressing B and then adjusted before the action was able to be performed. Since controlling what your stick is doing right as you press the B button is much easier than delaying adjusting your drift or aiming a special for the full length of the buffer to avoid getting the wrong special.
Also if you were actionable and out of hitstun before you pressed B, then you would have gotten a forward special no matter what. You might not always time the B press to be buffered like that.
