
First off, I do want to say that I’ve liked the direction this game is going in and appreciate that devs are listening and are adding what seems to be the healthiest changes for the game overall. I think because most of the discourse in this community revolves around characters (i think they have a sword or something ;] ) and server issues I believe an important problem got overlooked. The game performance.
It’s been mentioned before but I haven’t noticed a lot of people talk about it. In a game with frame perfect inputs and small windows to due certain actions, frame drops are a critical hinderance in this game. Of course, this is hardware dependant but its pretty clear that this game cannot run well on lower end computers. Which is to be expected as this game is graphically larger than ROA 1 but it seems that this issue is even very noticable in higher end pc’s. Even in larger locals/tournaments like Fusion, I witnessed the game freeze for a full 3 seconds because Forsburn combusted against Maypul on Aetherian Forest and the game tried to load the effects on the spot.
This is where I think the problem lies. This game simply needs to pre load/pre render its effects so this problem can be reduced. It’s been mentioned before but this would help the game tremendously in how it runs offline.
As it is now, I think even Ultimate has a better time running OFFLINE than this game does. However I do think this game runs better ONLINE than Ultimate ever could. It’s probably not a fair comparison seeing as I’m comparing the Hydrogen bomb known as Nintendo to the Indie company known as Offbrand studios but I simply never played PM and these are the only two platfighters I’ve played thus far.
To get back to my point, even if there are certain reasons such as resource constraints that prevent solutions for this to happen I would still like to see this problem acknowledged in some way.

Some other things I’ve heard / seen floating around:
Adding the game to Nvidia reflex (which would help reduce delay).
Adding DLSS support (more performance options is always good).
Idk if there’s a way to automatically turn on stuff like threaded optimization and low latency ultra mode in nvidia graphics settings but if there is it would also improve performance a lot.
Whatever that video does, I don’t really understand other than making the game prechache shaders. It sure does work though. I hope it gets built into the game soon!!
This would absolutely help with multiplayer scenarios. 4 players on steam deck is ugly.


We don’t have anyone on the team that specializes in optimization, but we’re devoting some time to make the best improvements we can since we recognize more players have been running across these kinds of issues.
