
Seeing this post on reddit got me curious about why Clairen’s UAir isn’t an arc of roughly constant radius (as one would expect of swinging a sword in a plane). The side hitboxes are much closer to her than the length of her sword. Looking into it, her uair actually swings across the z-axis, but the hitboxes are of the sword projected directly onto the xy-plane.

I think this is why the move feels so unintuitive? To be sure, I also checked the interactions with other characters. The sword clearly isn’t even hitting them despite the hitboxes registering. I think THIS is why it feels like the move shouldn’t have side hitboxes, or at least shouldn’t have side tippers.

Yeah side hitboxes are fine imo, but the side tipper is wild lol

I agree. You can keep the side hitboxes, but the tipper should only be at the top of the move. It would be so much more intuitive.
